Good morning!
Thank you to everyone who was able to donate items for the food pantry at Oxford Neighborhood Services. As a church we donated 62 jars of peanut butter, 47 jars of jelly, 38 boxes of instant oatmeal, a box of cereal, 3 boxes of Pop Tarts and a couple cans of chicken.
Some of you might remember Dan Mayberry. Dan passed away this week and there will be a graveside service for him on Monday, April 6 in the church cemetery. Visitation from 1:30 – 2 pm, which the service immediately following. Dan’s obituary is here: https://www.dewalds.com/obituaries/Daniel-R-Mayberry?obId=47975048
Easter is here! Remember that we have a fellowship breakfast Easter Morning at 8 am. The kitchen committee would love for you to bring a breakfast casserole and either pastries or fruit if you are able. We’ll also have a bench set up on Easter Sunday if you would like a family Easter photo!
Here’s what’s happening:
1. TONIGHT – Our Holy Week Prayer Vigil begins.
3. FRIDAY – Good Friday Communion Service at 7 pm.
4. SUNDAY – Easter Morning! Sunrise Service at 7 am, breakfast at 8 am, David movie at 9 am, Worship at 10 am.
5. Thursday, April 9 – Youth Group and Quilt Knotting
6. Saturday, April 11 – Celebration of Life Service for Henry King at 2 pm at Keystone Church.
7. Sunday, April 12 – Double Nickels
7. Saturday, April 18 – Spring Clean Up at the Church
8. Sunday, April 19 – Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.
Tomorrow night we are going to look at John 19 and the interactions that Pilate has with Jesus and with the crowd before He sentenced Jesus to die. We’ll look at the three responses to Jesus that we see in the passage and how we see those same three responses in the world today.
At Sunrise service we’ll be studying John 20:1-9 and looking at the difference between seeing and perceiving the Easter story. We’ll consider how we can help people move from just visiting the Easter story once a year to living it out in their daily lives.
And then during the morning worship service we will consider the life of Mary Magdalene and her conversation with Jesus at the empty tomb, found in John 20:10-18. We’ll consider some timeless truths that we learn from the Easter Story.
All three services will include an invitation to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. It’s going to be a great Easter at the Bridge!
