Good morning!
This is an exciting time of year…it looks like after this weekend the spring temperatures might be setting in for good. The days continue to get longer and the signs of spring are all around us. And now Holy Week has all but arrived. We have a lot going on at the Bridge between tonight and Easter Sunday! A couple of reminders as we prepare to celebrate our Risen Savior who is in the world today.
First, a reminder that this Sunday is the last day to bring in Peanut Butter, Jelly, and Instant Oatmeal for Oxford Neighborhood Services. We will be taking the items over on Monday.
Second, a reminder that Sunday is also the last day to sign up for the “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” even on 4/19. You should return your form to either Mary Lois Kreider or Becky Myers.
Third, a reminder to consider signing up for a time slot for our annual Prayer Vigil. We will be passing the sheets around during the service on Sunday. I’ll have prayer guides available in the lobby.
Fourth, a reminder that we will have a fellowship breakfast Easter Morning at 8 am. The kitchen committee would love for you to bring a breakfast casserole and either pastries or fruit if you are able.
And finally, we once again have a bench set up on Easter Sunday if you would like a family Easter photo!
Here’s what’s happening:
1. TONIGHT – Youth Group and Quilt Knotting at 6:30 pm at the church.
2. SUNDAY – Youth Group Luncheon after Church
3. Thursday, April 2 – Our Holy Week Prayer Vigil begins.
4. Friday, April 3 – Good Friday Communion Service at 7 pm.
5. Sunday, April 5 – Easter Morning! Sunrise Service at 7 am, breakfast at 8 am, David movie at 9 am, Worship at 10 am.
6. Thursday, April 9 – Youth Group and Quilt Knotting
7. Sunday, April 12 – Double Nickels
8. Saturday, April 18 – Spring Clean Up at the Church from 9 am to noon.
When I was growing up at Memorial Church one of my favorite songs to sing was “His Banner Over Me Is Love.” I can still do all the motions! Although I won’t be singing that song on Sunday (and all God’s people said Amen), I will be preaching on the passage behind one of the verses – He is the vine, and we are the branches. How does someone answer Jesus’ call to remain (or abide) in Him? What does that look like to remain in Him? What will we experience as we remain in Him? We will seek to answer all those questions on Sunday. The message will include a strong invitation to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior…it’s going to be a great morning to invite someone to join you at the Bridge!
