A few updates on church happenings in the month of June:

1. We have made the decision that this Sunday (6/7) will be the last one with Sunday School at 9 am for the summer. We had already decided to not have SS next weekend (6/14) due to the car show and after having quite a few conversations over the past couple of weeks it appears that attendance will be very light on Father’s Day (6/17). Bringing SS back for one week before our traditional summer break didn’t seem like the best idea. 6/28 is also the rain date for the car show.

Sunday School will return after Labor Day, although I am not sure when yet. It will depend a bit on the building project and what weeks the whole church will be available to us. We will start the summer “coffee time” on the first Sunday in July (7/5) as usual.

2. Speaking of the car show, I mentioned on Sunday that parking will be different next week. We are going to have the “show” in the lower parking lot area. We are asking that the paved upper lot be reserved for people with mobility issues…even the spaces that are not designated for handicapped parking.

We are planning to park cars between the schoolhouse and the church, on the grass areas surrounding the upper parking lot, and along the farm lane just north of the church. Carpooling as much as possible would be appreciated. We will have a crack team of the best parking lot volunteers in the tri-state area ready to direct you!

3. Just a reminder that the Chester County Water Authority will be at the church in the coming weeks to take down the water monitoring station located near the property line behind the cemetery. If you drive past the church and see work being done it is them.

4. Work continues in the woods. The grass is starting to fill in, and work is being done to add a “9 Square in the Air” game area for the kids and youth to use.

5. Our AMEC network continues to grow! In the past few months two churches located in Virginia have voted to join the network. They are Mt. Vernon Church in Grottoes, VA and Waynesboro Mennonite Church in Waynesboro, VA. They are both near Shenandoah National Park. There is a third church in the area that is also considering joining AMEC.

Here’s what’s happening:

1. SUNDAY - “Quilt Dedication Sunday.” We will be dedicating all of the quilts that have been knotted over the past school year.

2. June 11 – Youth Group meets at the church at 6:30 pm.

3. June 14 – Cruise for Christ Car Show. Please plan to carpool, as parking will be somewhat limited. Lunch is provided and we will have some activities for the kids. Signup sheets for food donations and all the details are posted in the lobby. ***There will be a brief meeting after the worship service this week for car show volunteers!

4. There is a sign up sheet in the lobby to provide snack before the service during July and August.

5. There is a sign up sheet in the lobby for VBS. This is an “all hands on deck” ministry event. Please consider volunteering.

Although the telling of the Joseph story often ends with the family settling in Goshen, there is quite a bit more to go! Joseph is reunited with his family, but there are still 5 more years of famine ahead. On Sunday we’ll look at how Joseph rescued a country on the brink of starvation and discuss what God wants us to do when we are in the midst of a crisis!
