Partner Ministry Updates

Writer: Scott PhillipsScott Phillips

Good morning,

Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer temperatures this week.  I have a number of updates from some of our partner ministries to pass along:

1.       The Oaks Ministry is in need of two-house managers. They are in need of someone as soon as possible at their location in Oxford at 558 Waterway Road and another by May 1st at their Oaks 3 location in Peach Bottom at 2300 Robert Fulton Hwy.

The ideal candidate for this position is a single, Christian woman who senses a call to minister to the population we serve. This is a full time, live-in position that includes rent-free housing and many living expenses provided.

I have enclosed their job description.  If you know of anyone who might be a fit here, pass it along.  More information is available by contacting Robin Martin at info@oxfordoaksministry.com

2.     New Hope Ministries in Quarryville is also hiring for two positions.  The first is a part-time counseling position that involves working with kids ages 6-10 one day a week.  The ideal candidate is a counselor who is a Licensed Professional Counselor or is a certified Play Therapist.

The second position is a full-time Office Coordinator.  The Office Coordinator offers general administrative support to the New Hope staff and counseling team, including the thrift store staff. The coordinator oversees essential office operations including QuickBooks, phone calls, emails and mail.

Job descriptions for both positions are available at https://www.newhopeministry.info/careers.  Any questions can be directed to Deb Riddel at director@newhopeministry.info.

3.     Solid Rock Youth Ministries in Quarryville has been approved to participate in Pennsylvania’s Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) to help renovate their building into a community center.  The NAP allows local businesses to donate to local causes and receive 90% of the donation as tax credit on their state taxes and the remaining 10% as a charitable contribution.

Solid Rock handles all of the paperwork necessary for the program, but there are deadlines coming up for businesses to participate.  I’ve enclosed more information about the NAP in this email if anyone is interested in learning more about it.

Here's what’s happening:

1.                Tonight is both Youth Group and our first Lenten Prayer Service.  Both begin at 6:30 at the church.

Our focus for the prayer service tonight will be on the ministries of our church and the lost in our community.

2.               If you are interested in going on the missions trip to North Carolina over the summer, please let Thomas Derr know by this Sunday.

3.               Completed forms for the “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner “ event are due back to Mary Lois Kreider or Becky Myers by this Sunday.

4.               March 29th – Men’s Breakfast at 8 am at Kreider’s Market, followed by the spring cleanup work-day at the church from 9 am to noon.  There are various jobs that we will be doing, from picking up sticks and putting mulch in the flower beds to washing windows and some deep cleaning in the church.

5.               We will be observing Communion on March 30th at the end of the worship service.

6.               We are looking for volunteers to help run the tech booth during the worship services.  Please see Bruce Fite if you are interested.

Daniel 1o is yet another wild chapter.  On Sunday we’ll read about a vision of a mighty man, angels and demons engaging in battle, and a prophet who is left weakened by it all.  We’ll look at how Daniel received the strength that he needed and what his experience on the banks of the Tigris River can teach us today!

Enjoy the weekend,

Scott
