Transitioning to 2026

Good afternoon!

Thanks to everyone who helped make Sunday morning happen while I was away this weekend.  Thanks as well to the carpet-cleaning crew who worked at the church yesterday.

It is hard to believe that we will transition to 2026 in a couple of days.  Transitions in life can be fun things but they are often very tricky to navigate.  Sometimes the transition feels like it is happening way sooner than we’d like, and that can be scary.  Sometimes it’s the opposite situation - we find ourselves “stuck” in the midst of one.  We aren’t quite done with the situation or season that we are in, and we aren’t quite in a new season.

Perhaps you find yourself in just such a place right now, either facing a transition that you don’t feel ready for or…waiting (perhaps waiting a long, long time) to complete the transition and enter into a new season of life.

On Sunday we will look at the life of Anna, the prophetess who greeted Mary, Joseph and Jesus at the temple.  Anna’s story lasts only three verses, but there is a lot in those three verses for us to consider!  We will be focusing our time together on looking at Anna’s life and how she was able to deal with the disappointment of being “stuck” and redefine her life.

If you know of someone who is in a situation like I’ve described…facing a transition that they would rather not make or disappointed that it hasn’t happened yet…I would really encourage you to invite them to come with you to the Bridge on Sunday.

I am looking forward to facing the transitions of 2026 together as a church family.

Here’s what’s happening:

1.      We are taking our last holiday break from Sunday School on Sunday.

2.     I will be giving some church updates during the SS hour on January 11.  Only the children’s Sunday School class will meet that morning.  I will be giving updates on work the elders have been doing on the church By-Laws, the building project, and some other items.  After the worship service we will be holding a vote of affirmation for the 2026 Church Budget.  Budgets are available in the lobby.

3.     We are in need of more help at the tech booth on Sunday mornings.  No experience necessary…see Bruce Fite if you are interested.

4.     January Save the Dates –         January 8 – Youth Group and Ladies Quilt Knotting

January 11 – Double Nickels Luncheon

January 22 – Youth Group and Ladies Quilt Knotting

Have a happy New Year!

Scott

How long was Joseph in prison?

On Sunday we looked at Joseph’s incident with Potiphar’s wife and how it led to Joseph being put in prison. As is often the case, the Bible compresses the timeline of Joseph’s life during this time.
